Died- January 1, 1603

Elizabeth was imprisoned in the Tower of London by her sister Mary I in 1554.

England defeated the Spanish Armada while Elizabeth was ruling in 1588.

"I would rather be a beggar and single than a queen and married."

She almost wasn't queen at all.

She pioneered legislature to help feed the poor.
