BABY HORNET LIBRARY NEWS

  • Hello Baby Hornets!! The library is gearing up for its first volunteers from grades 4-6. They will be trained in check out procedure, shelving, and advanced catalog skills. If you have students you think might like to participate, please let me know.
  • The library will be celebrating African American History Month during February with decorations and displays of influential and historical African Americans. If your class would like to add to the festivities by making their own decorations, I would love to add them to the library! I would especially appreciate (if you want) thank you letters to President and First Lady Obama. If we get enough, I will try to find a way to send a picture of our "appreciation wall" to the Obamas (TRY┬ábeing the optimal word :-) ).
  • Many students would like to spend lunch and recess in the library. This is fantastic!! I have lunch passes I am happy to give to you to distribute to students before lunch. These passes make it easier on lunch monitors to know who has permission to leave the cafeteria.
  • If you send students for book check out, please double-check the schedule to make sure I do not have a class. Most mornings are great for check out, but afternoons are often reserved for story-time and projects with younger students. Thanks!!
  • TPS has multiple databases available for student use. If your class is or will be doing a research project and you would like to know more about accessing these databases, let me know.
