Mrs. Talbot's Weekly Update Week of: February 6 - 10

What we are learning

Math: This week we will focus on: multiplying within 10, 100, 1,000, review the break apart strategy, complete a practice test, and have the Unit 5 test on Thursday. Please have your child practice their multiplication and division facts nightly.

Writing: Students will finish their final draft of, "The Boy Who Cried Wolf" and begin their story sequence chart on "Two Frogs and the Well.'

Reading: The students enjoyed learning about The Preamble last week. We also viewed two different paintings of George Washington and had fun interpreting those paintings. This week we will begin to read and discuss the book, "The Presidency" written by Christine Taylor Butler.

Fundations: In unit 7, I will introduce the y and suffix spelling rule to the students. The rule is, if a y follows a consonant in an open syllable at the end of a word, it needs to be changed to an i when adding any suffix.
