First Grade Harvest A great day in the CCS Community Garden with Ms. Gerson's Class

What can be a better way to learn about the cycles of life and sustainability than getting young hands harvesting food in a garden that was planted last spring by their classmates. Today was a literal cornucopia of learning as Ms. Gerson's first graders partnered with community volunteers Abby Foulk and Deirdre Holmes to collect a harvest of peppers, tomatoes, ground cherries, squash and beans. As the gardening season comes to a close, it also serves to lay a foundation for the planting these same students will do in the spring preparing for the cycle to continue. Hope you enjoy a few pictures from a great afternoon.
