J.R. Briggs Family Newsletter January 23rd, 2019

1/2 Day Monday, January 28th

Winter Is Here!

We are back in the snow business, which leads to many different challenges. The most pressing one we see each day is proper recess attire. Students should be hearing boots, gloves, hats, jackets, and other warm necessities. Some students have forgotten the guidelines for being in the snow, so they could use some reminders at home too!

Another challenge is parent pick-up and drop-off. If you are a regular participant in these activities, then you know that the road becomes much more narrow with the plowed snow. The plows do a great job making the way clear, but there is little space to put the excess snow. Please be cautious when driving behind the school and when in the drop off circle.

Parent Conferences are Feb 7th and 14th

Sign up for JRB February 2019 Conferences (http://signup.com/go/eOfDhFV) now. Dates and times are available, so please choose what works best for you.

4th Grade NAEP Evaluation

Approximately 50 students were randomly chosen to participate in the upcoming NAEP session on February 5th. Parents were notified via email on the 23rd if their student is participating. The email had an attached letter that explained the NAEP process and why we were selected to take part. If you have more questions, please reach out to Nat North (nnorth@awrsd.org) or call the school.

Band Concert

Next Wednesday, January 30th, there is a band performance at JRB. This will be the debut concert for beginning band students. Sstudents in A and B Band are to arrive at 630 pm with instruments and music. Mr. Uminski will check students in in the lobby.

The concert will start at 7pm. Concert Dress: black (or dark) pants or skirts with a white shirt. All black dresses are also okay. If there are any additional questions regarding this concert, band, or lessons please email Mr. Uminski at cuminski@awrsd.org
