YEAR 4 CAMP
Students attended the Broome Camp School on the 17th-18th of October 2019 to participate in a range of team building activities. All students had a wonderful time participating in a range of activities including kite making, team building games in the pool cooling off and completing the low ropes course.
On Thursday night students had a beach barbeque down at Cable Beach and played a game of beach cricket followed by a movie night.
Although Friday was sweltering hot students absolutely loved getting involved in the activities and represented St Mary’s with pride. We are so proud of the Year 4’s, they demonstrated independence, teamwork and resilience whilst on camp.
Thank you so much to all of our wonderful staff who supported us on camp. Ms Coby, Ms Keryn, Mr Brad, Mr Gerry, Mr Will, Mr Joseph and Miss Jerry, as well as our parent helpers Russell Earle, Luke Matthews and Kimbra McGaw - we couldn’t of done it without you!

Nulungu Chapel Stained Glass Windows
We are all very familiar with the beautiful artwork on our letterheads and school stationery and of course the stunning stain glass window in the Nulungu Chapel.
In the early days of Nulungu, the Christian Brothers had close connections with the people in the Northern Territory and many of our school excursions in the 1980s were to Bathurst Island, Daly River, and surrounding areas.
Recently our long-serving ATA’s Carlene and Helen attended an ATA Seminar in Perth with several other ATA from SMC and other schools where they were thrilled to meet the beautiful Dr. Miriam-Rose Ungunmerr (AO) who created the design for the stain glass window for the Nulungu Chapel. The window was blessed in 1984.
Dr. Miriam Rose Ungunmerr (AO) a member of the Ngangiwumirr language group from Daly River, Northern Territory became the NT’s first fully qualified Aboriginal teacher in 1975. Amongst other great papers and presentations, she continues her work advocating for experiences that allow Indigenous youth to learn to ‘walk in two worlds’
You can follow this link to read the artist’s explanation of some of the symbolism in the design.
