Headteacher School Update. 24th April 2020

RESPECT - INTEGRITY - COMPASSION

Introduction

Welcome back to term 4 and I hope all families were able to rest over the Easter break. Although we are not in school, term 4 remains a busy and critical point in our year. Over the course of this term we will move into our new 2020-2021 timetable, complete transitions and recognise our prize winners for this session and of course continue to try and improve distance learning approaches to better serve our young people.

Throughout all of the coming changes pupils and parents / carers can still communicate through their pupil support teacher or year head as we embed and settle into the new session. Information will be sent out by year group as we stagger the changes to support a smooth transition to new classes and teachers.

Please stay safe and take care.

Kind regards: Mr Black (Headteacher)

UPDATE

All schools have received a further update on Monday 20th April 2020 on the awarding of National Qualifications. The time for submissions has been extended until the 29th May 2020 and we are now in the process of completing the necessary checks and changes required.

AS STATED IN PREVIOUS COMMUNICATIONS WE ARE NOT ABLE TO SHARE ESTIMATES, BUT CAN ASSURE YOU THAT WE ARE DOING EVERYTHING POSSIBLE TO BE FAIR, POSITIVE AND ENSURE NO PUPIL IS DISADVANTAGED.

LEARNING

The vast majority of pupils are now accessing their learning online and engaging well. However, as time goes on it is important that all pupils are progressing and I would ask any parent or carer to contact the year group link if there are any issues around access or any other factors preventing engagement with learning.

Over the course of May we will be rolling year groups forward and pupils will be sent information and links to join their new classes where appropriate. We anticipate some settling issues, but we will work hard to overcome these as quickly as possible.

We know that circumstances may prove difficult at times, please let us know, so we can be aware, and or support if possible. We need to get the balance of keeping our young people busy and engaged, but also understand the unique set of circumstances we find ourselves in and that school work may, at times, need to take a back seat. However, if we continue to work together we can support learning, structure days better and be ready to hit the ground running when we return.

We are delighted to be able to continue working with @ypi_scotland to help support local groups. Anyone who knows of local charities providing support within our local community and who would benefit from an extra £4000 to help others, then please let us know! #unitedineffort
