Briconn's Advanced Photography

Bed, Bath & Beyond
Monterey, California
  • ISO 200
  • f / 5.6
  • 1/250 sec

For this assignment, I chose the word "clear" to represent good photography. I believe my picture portrays a clear image because there is minimal distraction, nice color combinations, and a specific focus. In photography having a clear image is very important. It allows the viewer to focus on the main subject with little distraction, and a crisp, clean picture looks by far better than a blurry one.

Self Portrait
  • ISO 200
  • f/ 5.6
  • 1/250 sec

For this assignment, we were tasked with taking self portraits. This was kind of difficult for me because having to set up a tripod, adjust the settings after every picture, and set a timer took a lot of time. I feel like I did a good job at portraying my personality in these pictures. They show that I'm funny, easy-going, and outgoing.

For this assignment, we were tasked with Street Photography. This was a little more challenging than I anticipated because street photography isn't just going around taking pictures of buildings. The purpose is to capture the life of the street, tell a story, and convey strong emotion. However, I think I did a good job with this because street photography is described as "daydreaming with a camera". In my picture I feel I conveyed a feeling of being lost in thought and how digital our world has become that we sometimes forget to stop and take in our surroundings.

Headshot
  • ISO 400
  • f/ 5.6
  • 1/100 sec

In this assignment, we were asked to set up and take professional Headshot photos. We could pick between four categories: executive, glamour, commercial, or theatrical. In headshot photography it is important to focus on the the person's face. If I had to choose a category that I think best fits my photo it would have to be commercial. My headshot gets away from the "corporate look" and focuses more on personality, expression, appearance, and energy. The lighting is soft and the background is simple. Her wardrobe is simple and trendy, her hair is natural, and editing was left to a minimum to convey a "real person" image.

The Ring
HDR

For this project, the focus was to take three photos with a slight difference between the exposures of each and then smash them all together. I think this project was fun because you can get a wide range of tones from lights to darks. However, I'm not that skilled with HDR I'd like to try this shoot again to get better.

Long Exposure
  • ISO 100
  • f/ 11
  • 15 sec

For this assignment, our focus was to capture a long exposure. I did this by setting up my camera on a tripod and having a very slow shutter speed as cars drove by to capture the movement of their headlights. This shoot was kind of difficult in the aspect of finding the right shutter speed, aperture, and ISO that worked well together. I didn't want my picture to be too dark, but also needed a quick shutter to get the most motion.
