It’s now June and supposedly Summer is here. Although, with the current gloomy weather, I’m not feeling it. Ideally, I’d be throwing on a pair of flip flops and a tank top by now but that just isn’t the case. It’s 59 degrees and cloudy outside. Maybe this disgusting weather is just a good excuse to shop… it definitely is and I know exactly what the first item in my cart will be.
Gucci slides, the furry, exotic, luscious and certainly bold footwear. Typically I’d say these are the perfect shoes for Fall but nowadays, they seem to fit this season of Summer too. Although they’re expensive, a major perk to these chic slip-ons is the variety of patterns, materials and embroiders that it comes in. While there are many options to chose from, here are my four favorites that I highly recommend.
First up is the Princetown leather slipper. The black leathered, lion embroidered, lamb fur lined mules sell for $1,050. So, do not surrender to old fashioned Ugg slippers. Instead, lounge in these mules for a comfortable yet fashionable look. These shoes would look great with a pair of ripped denim boyfriend jeans for a chic, hipster vibe. Black ripped jeans are always a yes and once Fall kicks in, they would look great with a pair of burgundy skinny jeans.
Snakeskin season is every season. Or at least is should be, this Princetown snake slipper is by far my favorite and they cost $1,100. With grey snakeskin, horsebit details, an elongated toe, lamb fur lining and a leather sole, these shoes are totally worth their price. With a big white sweater, khaki shorts and eye-catching gold jewelry, this could make a cute cold Summer night outfit. Even now though, these shoes would look great with white ripped jeans and a black top or vise versa.
Less expensive than the previous options, at a cost of $750, and just as cute, are the Princetown GG Blooms slippers. Although flowers haven’t quite blossomed yet, this pair is the perfect “getaway” from Westport weather. They possess a pop of pink which would look fantastic with white jeans. A pair of classic khaki shorts or a t-shirt dress would also make a flattering combination, once the sun finally comes out.
Very similar to the mule, the Princetown gucci bengal slipper also cost $750 and are essential for Summer night dinners. Yellow and pink will forever be superior and should always be worn come June. Due to the contrast of dark and light colors within the shoe, I think you could take your outfit in several directions. I do recommend white or black jeans though. Pattern calls for basic so keep it simple and don’t overthink your outfit.
If you’re anything like me and you’re totally obsessed with these Gucci slides but you can not afford them, there are alternatives. Zara and Steve Maddenoffer their own versions of mules and slides that’re just as charming. Regardless of the brand, I’m predicting that slip-on mules will become a top seller for the Summer of 2017.
