How the Epiphany is celebrated in other countries Angelina Del Toro 1-13-17

In Puerto Rico three kings day occurs on the "12th Day of Christmas" and is an extremely important holiday on the island

On the eve of three kings day, children in Puerto Rico would collect straw and water for the wise men's "camels"

Letters are written to the child's favorite king and they write there wish list

They would place the straw under their beds or outside thier home and the next morning in place of it would be presents or for bad children, dirt or coal

All over the island there are many parades and festivals with music, food, and drinks on Día De Los Reyes.

It is common for people to have large family dinners in their home as well.

Santos are made to commemorate the wise men. Santos are small carved statues people would put in thier homes.

Christmas is celebrated here as well, but the festivities continue until January 6th

It is believed that the wiseman came from different regions of the world and brought baby Jesus gifts of gold, frankenscende, and myrrh
