Hello brethren and friends!

Summer is here! Did it catch you by surprise ? It did me! I almost even forgot to write this article. The month of May brought us a new Brother. We initiated George Fujimura. He is now a member of Newport Mesa 604. Please help me and congratulate this young man. We tried something new this time around. Many of you may have noticed an email titled “Meet the Candidate”. In it you read about the then candidate (George) and a small bit about him. It’s a great idea by our Brother Jeff Castellano, to help us all get to know exactly who is coming into our lodge and a brother and friend. I hope as many of you that could took the time to give it a read.

This has been a busy year and we continue with our plan of events. We have quite a few coming up. We’d love to see as many of you as possible attend. Baseball games, BBQ, blood drive, etc. you can find them all on our website. Reminders will be sent it as time approaches. The one is like to point out is the lodge blood drive. We are slowly making improvements on the amount collected and we have partnered up again with Hoag and the Southern California Blood Bank to collect blood on June 29. As I said we have been slowly growing the amount of blood collected and I urge as many of you as possible to help us save lives! Literally .

June also brings us a new Jobs Daughter honored queen. Miss Janelle Chenault will be installed this coming June 9th. Let’s make a good turn out for our young ladies and congratulate the out going Queen Zoe Diaz. She’s done an amazing job during her term. Congratulations are also in order to our brand new Demolay which is growing ! They welcomed two new young men Zach and Desi. Both of our youth order are blossoming and as a friend of mine said these youngsters are a gift! Let’s support them as much as we can.

FROM THE SOUTH

So summer has arrived, don't let all the clouds and rain fool you. The year is flying by and changes are occurring. Bro Norman recently relocated to Florida, we'll miss him in person, but still get to interact with him via the lodge app. Bro Carney moved to Whittier so we probably won't see him as much, however once again we can stay easily connected with the lodge app. Bro Dennis has been in the midwest dealing with some serious health problems but it looks like he will probably be back in California in early June, looking forward to seeing him back at lodge soon. Congratulations to Bro Castellano and his WIFE Lois who after many happy years decided to make it officially official and get legally married !! As for me, my daughter Kaelyn just graduated from the CSULB nursing program, not only did she successfully graduate and become a registered nurse, she was the valedictorian of her class, I couldn't be any happier for her or more proud of her!

We recently initiated Bro Fujimura, thanks to all the sideliners who came out to support his initiation. Again I'd like to thank Bro Castellano for his continued efforts to improve our lodge by creating the "Meet the New Candidate" form. I enjoyed reading the questions and answers provided by Bro Fujimura, if you haven't I'd suggest giving that email a quick read, it's a nice way to get an idea about what a new brother is all about before you even get the opportunity to meet him in person.

Lastly if anyone out there is interested in working on their obligation please reach out and contact me, I have a relatively flexible schedule and am always happy to assist a brother with his work in Freemasonry. I am presently helping Bro Jay Greer and Bro Bill Rommerdahl work on their third degree obligations. Have you returned your third? If not why not? If it sounds like something you would like to endeavor upon, please reach out, as they say, ask and you shall receive.

I hope you like spicy, Jambalaya with Cornbread and honey butter is on the menu for June with brownies and or cookies for dessert. There will also be some hops based beverages for the Irish in the crowd such as myself ;)
