choir and guitar Classes ROCK The Winter concert by: Isabelle Stid

The M-A's winter choir concert on Thursday had over 120 students preform hits such as "Feliz Navidad" by José Feliciano and "Unwritten" by Natasha Bedingfield. Choir teacher John Maier said that, "For many students, it is the first time they have ever performed in public. That is a watershed moment.”

Soloist Jahkim Steward-Hendrix said about his performance, "I was shaking in my boots, I would say I always want to do better and I hope this performance continues my growth." Overall, Hendrix said he thought the night went amazingly and "I knew every choir would be amazing but I under estimated just how incredible they would be!"

Choir I member Lia Vargas felt that the show "was really fun, but also kinda nerve-racking!" She felt that choir overall was "really good and I [she] liked the sense of community."

Choir II member Imelda Paulo felt that the winter concert was "a great opportunity to showcase all we've learned this semester in choir and guitar."

The night marks the triumphant end of the semester for students in choir and guitar, as well as an overall celebration of the arts present at Menlo Atherton. Maier said about coming to support student musicains that “It [coming to music shows] helps strengthen a sense of community and it allows them [the audience] to share in the joy of making music.”
