Castle Warfare Balista

A siege is when a battle happens between a castle and an army and the ends when one of them surrenders.

The Ballista was used for aiming huge wooden, iron clad, darts or arrows powered by twisted skeins of rope, hair, or sinew - a huge dart-throwing machine.
In the middle ages people would do a siege as a battle plan to take down a castle. it was also a bad idea if it took a while because you would have to send people back to your castle to get supplies.

A large ballista could launch an imposing javelin weighing up to 10 pounds.

A crossbow was later invented in reference to a balista.
