"You are a saddo leading a sad life and you are missing out"
Today, social media is parents' worst nightmare when they see you immersed in to your phone just tapping random buttons. Social media is like a pandora box that would simply not close. You will be informed of the age restrictions, the negative effects of social media and much more. By the end of this article, assert whether you think social media as cool or lame and time wasting.
One of the most famous things said to do with social media...
WhAt is social mediA and its impact on Society?
Social media includes different networks e.g. Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. It is was once used for communication and wasn't taken to account, but know it was a crucial role in our lives. Instead of using it to contact our beloved friends and family, we spend too much time seeing other people's posts. We push our families aside and spend too much time on these networks.
"Being on social media is like a black tunnel where there is no end"
It has taken over our lives quickly like wildfire. Would you prefer family or social media? Perhaps have a think about this for a moment. Social media has many impacts on society. By the future, 2.44 million of the world's population we will have the online accounts on social networks.
The age limits
For different social networks, there are different age restrictions. They are there to inform you if you should be on those social network sites. Do you not know these age limits? Or do you choose not to follow them?
It is imperative you abide these rules, or else you are breaking the law and doing an illegal activity. Being an underage social media user can be a main target for cyber-bullies. Year 7&8 students should not yet be on social networks because you are younger than 13. The minimum age to be on social networks is 13 and the maximum age is 18.
AMONG 13- TO 18-YEAR-OLDS, 96% WERE SIGNED UP TO SOCIAL MEDIA NETWORKS SUCH AS FACEBOOK, INSTAGRAM, SNAPCHAT AND WHATSAPP. AMONG UNDER-13S, 78% WERE USING AT LEAST ONE SOCIAL MEDIA NETWORK, DESPITE BEING BELOW THE AGE REQUIREMENT.
The negative impacts of social media
Social media mainly impacts your lifestyle, not in a positive manner but negatively. Researchers claim people go more moody when they are on social networks. Here are some of the negative effects of social media:

You can be stalked online, people will be watching every step you take...
When applying for a job, they will check your social media history and check if you were underage when you started social media or posted anything that was rude or inappropriate. It ruins your self esteem.
Examples of bullying online
ITV's This Morning Show showed a heart-breaking video, only 2 months ago on two children who committed suicide because they were being bullied online.
