Adopt-a-Family for the Holidays with Compass Family Services

What is Adopt-a-Family?

Adopt-a-Family pairs individuals, families, civic groups, and corporate teams with Compass families who are homeless or at imminent risk of homelessness & lack the resources to buy holiday gifts. There are many volunteer opportunities whether you adopt a family or just want to help out! Donor and volunteer details below.

Learn more about our holiday project matching generous donors with families in our community for 22 years!

Registration opens September 15th.

Step 1. Volunteer for Adopt-a-Family Gift Drop-off or Pick-up days!

We believe that every family should be able to follow their own traditions, having a holiday that fits their family's needs, preserving the magic of the Holiday season for their children. To that end, we receive the gifts from the donors one week, then families pick them up the following week.

We utilize a team of volunteers (actually, many teams!) to make this magic happen. You can be a part of spreading holiday cheer to Compass Families!

Donor Adopt-a-Family gift drop-off days

Volunteer shifts are 3 hours long, and involve greeting donors and accepting Adopt-a-Family gifts, checking them in on a list, then storing gifts until family pick-up days the following week.

Adopt-a-Family gift pick up days for Compass families

Volunteer shifts for pick-up days are 3 hours long (feel free to sign up for more than one shift!), and involve retrieving gifts from storage units, and helping Compass families load gifts into vehicles to take home.

Thank you for wanting to get involved and help us alleviate family homelessness!
