We will hold our Halloween parade and parties on Tuesday, October 31. We will start with the parade at 2:00pm followed by classroom parties at 2:15 pm. Weather permitting, the parade will take place on the track behind the school. If the weather does not cooperate, the parade will be inside. For classrooms that have students with food allergies, please do not send in any food (treats) that have not been approved by the room parent or teacher. Remember, these allergies can be life threatening.

We’d like to remind parents of our school policies regarding costumes:

Students may not wear their costumes OR makeup, special hair sprays, etc. to school. All costumes are to be brought to school in a bag. Please do not plan a costume that is ghoulish, morbid, in any way offensive or excessively frightening to younger children. No masks are to be worn. Toy guns, knives or other weapons may not be worn, even if it is a part of your child’s costume.

Troy Youth Assistance (TYA) is once again doing a collection of unwanted/excess Halloween candy at Hill to donate to other action agencies. Collection runs through Thursday, 11/2. Look for the big orange bin in the office to drop the candy in.

Picture Retake Day (K-5) and Preschool picture day is scheduled for Thursday, November 2. If you are unhappy with your child’s picture or if your child was absent the day pictures were taken, please send your child to school ready to have his/her picture taken. For retakes, your child must return the original package intact and bring it on the day of retakes.

On Tuesday, November 7th , you will be asked to decide an important issue in the November election. The Troy School District is asking voters to consider a 1 mill Building and Site Sinking Fund. This fund would be created at NO INCREASE TO YOUR CURRENT TAX RATE and would allow us to make necessary repairs and refurbishments to HILL ELEMENTARY and the rest of our schools.

If you have questions about this proposal, there is lots of information and a FAQ link on the TSD website:

Or, please reach out to Anne Sackrison or Donna O'Reilly. They have been the Hill representatives for the Citizens and Parents for Education Committee. They would be happy to give you more information about this proposal.

Legos Wanted!

The Hill Library Media Center has a new Lego Wall and we are looking for Legos!

If you would like to donate to our wall, please send the Legos to school in a zip lock bag.

Please include your child’s name and teacher so we can be sure to thank them for their donation!

Library Book Circulation Policy

Students check out books every other week during library media class. If they forget their books, they may still check out new books. If they forget 2 weeks in a row, they may not check out new books until the old ones are returned.

For a list of book return dates, please click here.

Join us on November 10th from 6-9pm for the first Ladies Night Out event! It will be a great evening of socializing and holiday shopping while we support the Hill PTO! Money raised will go towards supporting literacy at Hill. Many vendors will be available for you to purchase or order all of your holiday gifts. Great raffle prizes will also be up for grabs! Bring your friends, family, and neighbors! It will be a fun night for all! Admission is $2, adults only.

There is a Skate World party coming up on Monday, November 13 from 6:15 to 8:15pm. Advanced tickets will go on sale for $5/each on November 8-10. Tickets will be $6 cash at the door on the day of the event. The whole school is invited and proceeds will help fund the 5th grade camp and celebration. The more funds they raise, the lower the cost is to the individual families later in the year for these special events. Thank you in advance for your support.
