NEWS FROM THE COUNTRYSIDE MONTESSORI MIDDLE SCHOOL weekly updates on what's going on in the community

On Friday, February 17, Helena’s mother, Mrs. Wyville, had the opportunity to come to the Middle School community lunch. When she first arrived, two students gave her a tour of the Community Room, classrooms, and lower level. For lunch we had Italian beef, waffle fries, and last but not least, pears. We all had a pleasure eating the scrumptious food that the quarter three cooking group prepared, talking about what's going on in our lives and Mrs. Wyville’s art. In the end, we were all glad we got the chance to show another guest what the Middle School community lunch is like.

During Spanish last week we baked cookies. We started off by translating a Spanish recipe into English. Then we made the dough from scratch on Tuesday. On Wednesday we cut the cookies into different valentine shapes such as hearts, Xs and Os, and arrows. Finally, on Thursday we baked the cookies and decorated them with festive colors. The cookies were scrumptious and we had a fun time making them.

This past week the Middle Schoolers have been working on a scene from The Music Man for Coffee House. For those of you who don’t know, The Music Man is a musical from the late 1950s. The scene the Middle Schoolers have been working on takes place on a train. Instead of singing a more traditional style of musical theater, the Middle Schoolers our singing a rap kind of song. The Middle Schoolers are all very excited to perform this at the Coffee House for you.

In the beginning, the silver products looked old and worn out, but by the time we finished polishing, they looked brand new!
