Thank you WBE Parents, Teachers & Staff for a fantastic Mane Bash

We had a terrific turnout with more than 160 guests joining us for dinner, the auction and a fun night with music by Circuit Thursday.

It was another great year for fundraising at Woodbrook. We are still working on final numbers, but we definitely exceeded our goal of $15,000. We are fortunate to have so many people in the Woodbrook community who helped make this a great evening and raised funds for our school. This event cannot happen without the support of so many who provide their time and effort over the last several months.

Special thanks to Dennis & Jessie Mock for their generosity with their personal donations for the evening as well as countless hours soliciting and securing donations for the Mane Bash. Also, many thanks to Tammy Egger and Celebrity Cruises for donating the 7-Night Carribean Cruise.

Thank you to the generosity of all of those who attended, bid on items and won. Our spirited and generous WBE community really came through to help our school, including a special fund created at the event for newly refurbished soccer goals on the playground field. In addition to supporting Woodbrook during the auction, families and staff raised funds to benefit the many needs of Indianapolis Public School 56.

Note: All silent auction bidders have been notified if they had the winning bid.

CCS Now Accepting 'Teacher of the Year' Nominations for 2017

Nominations can be made by students, parents, other staff members and community members and are being accepted until March 12.

Each year, the Indiana Department of Education conducts an Indiana Teacher of the Year program to recognize outstanding classroom teachers from across the state. Carmel Clay Schools is invited to share in this special recognition program by honoring and nominating one teacher to be a representative at the state level of the program.

Nominations are now being accepted for the CCS Stephen A. Backer Teacher of the Year award until midnight on March 12, 2017.

Nominations can be made by students, parents, other staff members and community members. A selection committee will review the nominations and select the winner. The CCS Stephen A. Backer Teacher of the Year will then compete against teachers from across the state to represent Indiana in the National Teacher of the Year competition.

The Carmel Clay Schools Teacher of the Year award is endowed by the Stephen A. Backer Memorial. Throughout his life, Backer was an advocate and supporter of Carmel Clay Schools. He served on the Carmel Clay School Board of Trustees from 1994 to 1998 and from 2006 until his passing in March 2009. Stephen held the position of School Board President for five of those years. The Stephen A. Backer Memorial was started shortly after his passing and continues to receive donations. Donations in support of the Stephen A. Backer Teacher of the Year award can be made through the Carmel Education Foundation.

A Note From Nurse Barb:

Does something have your child scratching their head lately?

Take a look to make sure there are no freeloaders hanging out! As always, I’m available for any questions or concerns☺ -- Nurse Barb bneukam1@ccs.k12.in.us

Keep Collecting & Turning in Your Box Tops

Thanks to all who collected boxtops in January and February as part of Woodbrook's "Snowball" Boxtop Fight. The school in total collected 5,234 boxtops these last two months which is worth $523.40 for Woodbrook. It was great seeing all the "snowballs" being thrown between the classrooms.

Classes that collected at least 625 boxtops have earned their very own "Classroom Snowball Fight". Congratulations to 3-1 DeHaven and K-4 Shearman classes for reaching this goal. In addition, 3-1 DeHaven will have a popcorn party with their "Snowball Fight" as the class that turned in the most boxtops.

Please keep submitting boxtops the rest of year. Expiration dates do matter and we need to submit them before they expire (next payout is in December but we can send them in for our account during the year). Click here for some fun collection sheets or you can submit them in plastic bags with the number of boxtops written on the outside.

Thanks for supporting Woodbrook.
