2020-2021 registration:

Kamiak has implemented an exciting change in the course registration process for the next school year. We are now moving to an online registration system, and this will be our transitioning year.

If your student missed the informational meeting that took place this week, they can watch the presentation here. If your student is not sure what to take or has further questions, please schedule an appointment with your counselor.

Registration Deadlines:

  • Juniors: March 10th
  • Sophomores: March 11th
  • Freshmen: March 12th

To view a list of available courses, verify graduation requirements, learn about dual credit, running start and more, please check the Course Guide.

Because of the complexity in creating the master schedule that meets the needs of over 2000 students, we have some strict guidelines on changing schedules. Please check the courses selected and make sure they are the courses your child would like to take for the following year.

WORLD LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY EXAM- EARN CREDIT FOR FLUENCY! (DATE CHANGES)

If your student is fluent in reading, writing, and speaking another language they could earn up to 4 high school credits by taking a World Language Proficiency Exam. If interested, please have your student see Ms. Spies in the Counseling Office for details. The test will take place on Friday, April 17th (after-school) and registration forms are due to Ms. Spies by Friday, April 3rd.

The Mukilteo School District provides students in grades 8-12 with an opportunity to earn up to 4.0 high school credits by taking a World Language proficiency exam (WLPE) that is offered for nearly 60 languages. Students are tested on their reading, writing, and speaking skills in the language selected. Students earn a “pass” grade and not a letter grade for any credits awarded and therefore does not affect their grade point average. These credits do not count towards the 2.0 external credits (see curriculum guide) that students are allowed to apply to their transcript. Please see your counselor if you are interested in this opportunity.

For more information please visit the Mukilteo School District website under the Assessments Department “Assessment Resources” tab. A list of languages offered can be found on the third page of the “WLPE FAQ’s” document.

kamiak athletic booster club

Dear Kamiak Community:

Kamiak Athletic Booster Club is excited to announce a fundraising campaign for our beloved Kamiak High School, and we need your help! Our main gym is in need of a makeover -- new banners, flags, new branding logos, and most importantly, an updated vinyl banner system to replace the old date plaques and awards. The cost of this update is just over $10,000, and the school simply doesn’t have the funds for it. We will be honoring and recognizing our Sponsors through a Thank You banner, which will hang permanently in our main gym complex to show our gratitude to all of the families and businesses that have generously donated.

We have four sponsorship levels to help us reach our fundraising goal:

  • $1,000.00 donation = Platinum Level
  • $500.00 donation = Knight Level
  • $250.00 donation = Purple level
  • $100.00 donation = Silver level

Please consider making a donation… even $5 or $10 will bring us one step closer to our goal. Please click on the fundraising link below and make your donation today. (Note: KABC is a non-profit organization, and your donations are tax-deductible.) Thank you for supporting our school and Kamiak athletics!

Sincerely,

Kamiak Athletic Booster Club (KABC)

fundraiser total: $7,880

A PARENT SPONSORED EVENT

QMLATIV:

Qmlativ is our system that provides parents with their student's information such as grades, attendance, and other data. You can login to the Family Access portal to check on your student's information.

Need help accessing your Family Access Portal? Please refer to these instructions.

flyers HAVE GONE digital:

Say goodbye to crumpled flyers at the bottom of student backpacks that surface after an opportunity has passed. We have implemented an electronic flyer distribution system. Families will get flyers in their email inbox instead. Schools and outside organizations will have a more accessible, environmentally friendly and interactive way of sharing flyers and newsletters. Primary guardians with an email address on file at their child’s school will automatically begin receiving flyers by email. If a family member would like to also receive them, they can subscribe on the school website.

listserv has retired

The subscription-based email ListServ is aging technology and expired as of January 10th. If you are the primary guardian already listed at your child’s school, you don’t need to do anything – you will continue receiving messages from your child’s school. Communications have been transitioned to Blackboard. If you would like to view your current Blackboard Connect settings, please login to your account by clicking the button below.

Blackboard Connect Portal:

The school district uses a system called Blackboard Connect to send important messages to parents via telephone, text, and email. If you would like to change to the way you receive messages, login to your Blackboard Connect Portal and edit your contact information.

Other ways to stay informed as a parent:

Change in School Closure or Delay Notification:

This year, you will receive a phone message and email from the district if we close or delay school. This helps ensure we reach everyone, including those without an email address on file, before students stand outside at a bus stop, and before parents leave for work. If you added a text message number in the Blackboard portal, you will also receive a text message. As usual, it will also be posted on the district website and posted through FlashAlert, which also feeds into mainstream local news feeds.

calendar update:

The 3 snow days in January have been added to the end of the school year calendar. As a result, the new last day of school will be Monday, June 22. That means June 17 will become a regular full day, June 19 will become a LIT day and June 22 will be an early dismissal day. If we have any more school closures between now and the end of the school year, those may be added to the end of the school year as well, so be cautious in making summer plans right after school lets out.

NEGATIVE LUNCH BALANCES

Reminder: Official Transcripts will be held until your negative balance is paid off. Smaller payments are accepted if you cannot pay the balance in full. You can apply for Free/Reduced Meal Benefits for the 2019-2020 school year at any time. Apply either online or at your school office. Applications must be renewed each school year. Please call the Nutrition Service Office with any questions regarding your student's eligibility. Online payments can be made to your student's meal account by going to MySchoolBucks

CELL PHONE/ELECTRONIC DEVICE POLICY:

Cell Phone/Electronic Devices are not allowed during class periods OR passing times. Confiscated items will be held in the Main Office for PARENT pick-up at the end of the day. Chronic or willful disrespect of the policy will be subject to progressive school discipline. Students have received this information along with the Kamiak Student Handbook and the District Rights & Responsibilities Handbook (the policy is stated on page 22 of this publication).

STUDENT DELIVERIES:

To avoid interrupting the educational process, items brought in and left for student pick-up will not be delivered to classes. It is the responsibility of the student to retrieve such items. For campus security purposes, food delivery, flower delivery, balloon delivery, etc. should not be sent to the school.

ATTENDANCE:

  • Excusing an absence: Students have 2 days to get absences excused by a guardian with an excusable reason.
  • Pre-arranged absences: Pick up pre-arranged absence form from attendance. This form must be signed by student, teachers and a guardian and must returned to the office a week before the absence. The dean of students will then review the submission. If the form is not returned one week prior to the absence, it will be automatically unexcused.

NURSE:

Have students visit the nurse when feeling ill, they would need to be cleared by the nurse before calling home requesting to be picked up.
