Almonds are a great natural source of magnesium with only a quarter cup of almonds having 62 mg. Having magnesium is very important because having a deficiency can increase the risk of having a heart attack and promote free radical injury to the heart. Magnesium also helps the flow of blood, oxygen, and nutrients throughtout the body.

When magnesium burns it produces a bright white light. This makes it ideal for making firework sparklers, flares, and bombs. Magnesium is what makes the firework sparklers look white. A flare is created with intense heat but no explosion. When magnesium reacts with the other elements in a flare it produces the white color. Incendiary bombs are weapons designed to start fires or destroy sensitive equipment using magnesium powder.

Magnesium is highly soluble in water making it the third most common element disolved in seawater.
