Deannamarie Kurk DIVERSE LEARNER teacher

My name is Deannamarie Kurk. I was born and raised in Chicago. I graduated from Lane Tech in 2006. At that time I decided I wanted to be a music educator. I attended VanderCook College of Music and received my Bachelor's Degree in music education in 2010. During my first year of teaching I decided to pursue my Master’s Degree in Education with a specialization in special education from Walden University.

I taught general music for six years before I decided to pursue the idea of becoming a diverse learner teacher. Soon after this decision, I became a Lorca Orca and am very proud to be a part of this family. This my 9th year teaching in Chicago Public Schools and my third year at Lorca. I am excited to be a part of the 3rd/4th grade team!

3rd/4th Grade Team

I like to spend my free time with my family and friends. Oh and I can’t forget my three dogs!

Charlotte, Nella, Lois

This school year I am co-teaching 3rd and 4th grade math and science in room 217 with Mr. Candia!

I will also be in room 115 to work with Mrs. Miranda’s kindergarteners!

This school year I hope to incorporate music into the school day as a part of enrichment.
Go Lorca Orcas!

If you have any questions or concerns please email me at dkurk@cps.edu or visit room 217. Thank you!
