I lived here in St. Pete for 25 years, was gone for 25 years, and now I’m back.
It’s changed, downtown especially.
- For the worse, if you were a ne’er-do-well, like I was back then, who flourished in bohemian bars tucked away on seedy side streets.
- For the better, if you are old and mellow, like I am now, and have grown accustomed to upscale promenades with outdoor cafes & restaurants.
Beach Drive, down along the waterfront, is almost unrecognizable to those of us who loitered on Central Avenue back in the mid-80s.
It has become . . . Well, uh . . . fit for a Queen?
