2018 Reebok Crossfit Games Open CrossFit Brigade INTRAMURALS

The Games season is a very exciting time at Brigade and the Open is our very favorite part. Since 2012, CFBs participation has been dramatically increasing. For each of the the last 2 years, we have seen over 100 of our athletes officially register and participate in the Open. With very CFB Open, the gym sees amazing breakthroughs and our community strengthens in a all aspects.

What is it?

“The Open” is the first level qualifier for the 2018 Reebok CrossFit Games being held at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison, Wisconsin where men women and teams will compete for the title “Fittest on Earth”. To make it to California, individual competitors must compete in the Open and finish in the top 20 of their region in order to advance to “Regionals.” Teams must rank in the top 15 to qualify. Across the world, the 17 regions are combined to create 8 “Super Regional” events. From each of these 8 events, 5 men, 5 women, and 5 teams will advance to the Games in Madison. We belong to the Central East Region and our top athletes will be vying for a coveted spot at the Central Super Regionals in Nashville 25th-27th.

Friday Night Lights

I am not an elite athlete. Why should I sign up for the Open?

The CrossFit Open is "THE" community event of the CrossFit world. Last year, more than 380,000 participants from 175 countries signed up for the event. Most of them were not elite athletes either. Participating in the Open workouts, entering your scores, "leaderboarding", and following the flood of media produced by CrossFit HQ connects you to the fitness community in an unbelievable and unprecedented way. Each year our athletes emerge form the Open invigorated and excited about CrossFit and their fitness. With a fresh new set of goals and challenges, the athletes immediately start preparing for the next year's Open.

"I love rowing!"

The Intramurals

Beyond the worldwide event, the Open has a life of its own at Brigade through the Intramural Event that we host. Just because you are not competing for a spot at the Games in Madison, Wisconsin doesn't mean you can't compete against your buddies for water cooler bragging rights. You will also get to benchmark your performance against people all over the world, in your region, state, and age group. CrossFitters have even coined a new word, "leaderboarding", which describes the activity of following yourself and the other athletes as they journey through the Open workouts.

Each week for 5 consecutive weeks, CrossFit HQ will release a new work out online.

Brigade will feature the Open workout as the WOD on Friday and again on Monday with a very special theme inspired Friday Night Lights event each week from 4pm to 8pm.

You will have until 8pm on Monday to submit your score each week on the Official CrossFit Games website.

Once you have submitted your score you are going to be ranked according to your age group, sex, region, state, and country.

The Intramural Event and Friday Night Lights happen at CrossFit Brigade. Everyone who registers will be drafted into one of four teams by our team captains: Josh Harrell, Rachel Brimer, Blake Smith, and Fred Newton. Daniel Pickett will fill the role of Commissioner this year. Anyone not already registered by the time of the draft is eligible for "recruitment". This is a time where the team can add additional members and bring more fun and excitement to the game.

+1 Point – Attendance: every member of a team that completes an Open workout at Brigade each week earns one point. Maximum one point per athlete per workout. This goes for Rx AND Scaled competitors!
