.... Helping young mothers succeed

Pinnacle Place, located in Sunbury, Pa., is a maternity group home available to pregnant or parenting women ages 18-21 (and their child) who are homeless throughout Columbia, Juniata, Lycoming, Mifflin, Montour, Northumberland, Perry, Snyder, Sullivan or Union counties. Pinnacle Place provides a transitional living plan that women may stay in the house six to 18 months.

Pinnacle Place was established because the Central Susquehanna Intermediate Unit (CSIU) pregnant and parenting teen program, Project ELECT was observing young women in situations where they did not have stable housing or the skills to be self-sufficient. There were instances where this would lead to separation of mother and child.

Children are the future. Pinnacle Place gives young mothers the tools to succeed as well as tools to help their children succeed.

Residents of Pinnacle Place receive training about career and employment readiness, life skills and financial literacy. Mothers are also provided with case management services, as well as assistance with attaining or completing education.

• Domestic coaching

• Maintaining a healthy home environment

• Health and hygiene

• Manners and etiquette

• Internet safety

• Recycling

• Proper food storage

• Communication that promotes healthy relationships

• Community service

• Aid in attaining a driver’s license or other transportation services

• Pregnancy prevention / education

• Reproductive health education

• Parenting and child development

• Career and job readiness
