Description and symptoms : Lactase Intolerance is produced by cells that line the walls of the small intestine. These cells, called intestinal epithelial cells, have finger-like projections called microvilli that absorb nutrients from food as it passes through the intestine so they can be absorbed into the bloodstream.

Complications : Osteopenia, a condition where you have a very low bone mineral density. Osteoporosis, a condition that causes your bones to become thin and weak. Malnutrition occurs when the food that you eat does not give you the nutrients that are essential for a healthy functioning body. Excessive weight loss can damage your health.

Inheritance : It is an autosomal mutation in the body .

Cure : Treatment focuses on avoidance of dairy products, use of lactose-free products, or the use of lactase supplements.
