Spring Special Commencement april 24, 2017

On April 24th, 14 student-athletes from three spring sports had the opportunity to walk across the stage in an early commencement ceremony.

Throughout the years, many of these spring athletes are unable to participate in the traditional commencement ceremony due to athletic commitments.

The early graduation ceremony – an event put together by the University's commencement office, the Center for Athletic Academic Services (CAAS) and the Memphis athletics department – was only for those student-athletes whose athletic competition directly conflicted with the University's regular graduation ceremony.

The student-athletes experienced it all. They marched in. They walked across the stage. They received handshakes from President M. David Rudd. They turned their tassels. They – and their parents – proudly smiled. They got the recognition they deserved.

In addition to their families, student-athletes had support of their teammates as well.

Congratulations to Meghan Christensen, Lindsay Crowdus, Chardae Greenlee, Brandon Grudzielanek, Rebeka Holt, Calli Irvin, Alex Klatt, Drew Martinez, Yannik Schaly, Zach Schritenthal, Lindsey Stickrod, Trent Turner, Luke Vaughn and Christopher Walker for your graduation from the University of Memphis!
