Desert Willow Elementary Learning for life and loving to learn May 12, 2021

Thank you to everyone who completed our survey regarding how to spend PTO funds for positions and programs (only those that are funded through PTO) for the upcoming school year. We had over 200 responses, which helped to make an informed decision about what is most important to our school community moving forward. I have included a graphic that summarizes the survey results. We have submitted funds requests to the PTO to pay for kindergarten and recess aides, Renaissance Place (Accelerated Reader), and the library aide. If you are a PTO member, you can have a voice in approving these funds for next year by attending the next general PTO meeting.

Roadrunners are Respectful, Responsible, & Kind

This month, our school wide theme is empathy. We’ll be reminding students to have empathy, identify their own and others’ feelings, notice and respect the same and different feelings, and show compassion. When students can identify, understand, and respond in a caring way to how someone else is feeling, it helps create a positive and accepting school climate.

You can extend this idea at home by talking about your own feelings and modeling empathy for others.
