Black-Tie Event A Visit by a Tuxedo-wearing Guest highlights Science unit oN Penguins.

The march of the penguin across a kindergarten classroom was accented with happy honks and fun facts as Vern – short for the Vernal Equinox that occurred on the day he hatched! – paraded his 'happy feet' in a Livingston elementary school. The young learners at Burnet Hill know all about penguins, including their habitats, foods, waxy feathers, and habits. The science is embedded in their written journals about penguin facts and acted out in a “Readers Theatre” featuring homemade penguin costumes. The visit by Vern, an African penguin cared for by Jenkinson’s Aquarium in Point Pleasant, was a highlight of this black-tie science-art-reading-and-writing event.
