Jim Crow Laws can from a racist song "Jump Jim Crow."

It became famous by a white performer Thomas Rice who wore a black face in his act.

That was why the laws were called the Jim Crow Laws.

Many African Americans lost their civil rights.

It soon became illegal for black people from eating in the same restaurant as white people.

Also sleeping in inns with white people.

The African American challenged the Court.

The Reconstruction was over and large landowners once again rose to political power.

Many became tenant farmers or people who rent land to grow crops.

And people who share their farm items were called sharecroppers.
