Exceptions to Mendel's Principles

Incomplete Dominance- situation in which one allele is not completely dominant over another allele

Codominance- situation in which the phenotypes produced by both alleles are completely expressed

Multiple Alleles- a gene that has more than two alleles

Polygenic Trait- trait controlled by two or more genes

Often it is assumed that the phenotype is the sum of the genotype and the environment .The phenotype can also be seen as the interaction between genetics and environmental factors, some genotypes are better in one environment and others are better in another environment.

A white butterfly will operate better in the sun.
