Engaging in School

School Counselor Connection
Message from Mrs. Hall- Harris School Counselor
Here are some tips about how to help kids cope and decrease anxiety:
- Keep updated by getting information from credible media outlets, local public health authorities, and updates from public health websites.
- Seek support and continue connection with friends and family by talking to them on the phone, texting, or communicating through email or social media.
- Although you need to stay informed, minimize exposure to media outlets or social media that might promote fear or panic.
- Spend time together as a family doing activities that you all enjoy. A little sunshine is helpful during hard times.
- Talk to children about their feelings and validate them. Drawing is a great way for kids to express themselves.
- Focus on supporting children by encouraging questions and helping them understand the current situation. Check in with them on a regular basis.
Please reach out to Mrs. Hall by email if you have a need and are looking for various community resources during the next few weeks. She will contact you back.
