Gator Walk A TOUR AROUND UNIVERSITY of florida

University of Florida was found in 1853, located in Gainesville. The University of Florida is truly a great school, upon stepping in the campus, you will be amazed by the friendly atmosphere the campus gives you. UF is the flagship state university in Florida, the campus is measured at 2000 acres and surrounding by buildings and walk ways that are mainly built with red bricks, these red bricks create a scene that you won’t find anywhere else in Florida. UF has great diversity, there are students from different background from all around the world here in campus, so no matter where are you come from, you won’t feel alone. The school also has its own police department in case of emergency and to make the students feel safer away when they are long way from home. In addition, there are 47 different varieties of restaurants in campus proving food for different culture of students.

University of Florida is filled with many historical buildings, and the tallest one out of them all is the famous century tower. Build at 1953 with mostly red brick, the tower is measured at 148-foot-tall. In addition, the tower is equipped with 61 different size of bells, the smallest bell weights 26 pound while the biggest bell weights about 7000 pounds. These bells ring every 15 minutes from 8 am to 8 pm to remind students the time of day and the tune of the ring is created by the formal chairman in department of music. Many students enjoy studying and drawing around the century tower.
If you are a sport fan, then you will love the Ben Hill Griffin Stadium. Build in 1930, the walk way in front of the stadium is covered with red bricks and many of these red bricks are curved with the name of the Alumni of UF. This stadium is also known as “The Swamp”, is the home field of Florida Gator football team. The stadium is ranked as the 12th biggest stadium is American college and has a capacity for 88548 people. However, football is not the only purpose of the stadium, there are often students that exercise in the stadium, and sometimes there are even students that bring their dog to play.
When you become a part of the University of Florida, you will quickly learn about Library West. Constructed at 1967, Library west in One of the major library in UF and the only library in UF that opens 24 hour a day, 7 days a week, this library is equipped with computer, printer and anything you may need to study. The clever person who redesigned this building even included a Starbucks in the library. No matter day or night, this Library is always busy and filled with students, and the building provides security guards after 10pm to make students feel safe. Library west is the home to many students at every final week.
Stephen C. O’Connell center is a multiple purpose arena, the name Stephen C. O’Connell comes from the 6th president of University of Florida. The arena is also known as the O’Dome, measured at 292000 square feet and equipped with a full-size basketball field for the UF basketball team. In addition, this arena host many different type of events on campus such as the University of Florida graduation ceremony, career fairs, concerts and more. This arena was recent finished with its renovation at a cost of 64.5 million dollars with a scoreboard that’s worth 2 million dollars and many other new technology such as 3d projection. This arena is one of the best building in UF.

Yes, it will not be easy moving to a new place and going to a new school, but UF got that covered. In case if you haven’t made any new friends around UF yet, there are over 1,000 student clubs and organizations, you will surely to find a club or organization that fits your interest. There are many activities for students at UF. The midtown and downtown is where everything happens, located very close to the UF campus, midtown and downtown offers many different types of restaurants and bars, there is also a farmers market open from 4 pm to 7 pm every Wednesday around downtown will all kinds of fresh and yummy food. you will find many UF students there no matter if it’s Friday, Wednesday or even Monday. If you are not in the clubs, there are also places such as Paynes Prairie, there are 8 trails in Paynes Prairie and if you are lucky you can see wild horses and gators there, you can also hike, ride your bike or even ride a horse. In addition, UF has many program that can help with your depression or if you are just home sick. Program like Umatter provide free mental counseling. Every gator matter here at UF, and every student takes pride at being a Gator.
