ABOUT THE ARTIST

Brad Stevens

Originally from Hewitt, Texas, Brad Andrew Stevens attended Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas, where he earned a BFA in Studio Art. He continued his education at the University of Oklahoma, earning an MFA in Painting. He currently holds the position of Chief Preparator and Exhibition Designer at the Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art at the University of Oklahoma and resides in Norman, Oklahoma, with his wife Jessica.

Working primarily with digitally manipulated photography and mixed media composition, Brad describes his process; "My work begins as an exploratory process of mark making and automatic drawing, how the movement of each line relates to the next. The use of color, various types of media and layered drawings create a visual dialogue, producing a more intricate image. Although images and ideas salient to the viewer often emerge, I hope to communicate through the exchange of purposeful and abstract design the inspiration gained from observing nature and scientific discovery as a creative or destructive process. This work serves as a source of personal exploration and aims to express an interpretation of the world around me."
