Fundamental British Values - Tolerance and Respect

At Swinton Queen Primary School we recognise, promote and teach Modern British Values through our curriculum and enrichment activities which are interwoven into our everyday timetables. All staff strive to ensure that our pupils leave school prepared for life in modern Britain. Pupils are encouraged to regard people of all faiths, races and cultures with respect and tolerance and understand that while different people may hold different views about what is ‘right’ and ‘wrong’, all people living in England are subject to its law. We also talk to our children about people's appearances and personalities and that the world would be a very dull place if everyone was the same.

As part of the work we do around this we ask all children to be sensitive towards each other and not say anything that may offend or upset others in school - either deliberately or what they may think is in more of a joking way. Mr Goddard and Mrs Cunningham have spoke to all classes about this today and answered any questions that were raised by children.

We will continue to do this in school but would ask that over the weekend you could reinforce this message with your child / children and how their words and actions might make others feel even if done in jest.

As a school we will not tolerate any negative behaviour that upsets or harms any child in school.

Friends of Swinton Queen

As a school we greatly value the support that we get from our families and the suggestions that we are given, including ideas for fundraising. As part of the meetings that have been had with Mr Higginbottom (the incoming Head) he has said that he is wanting to set up a 'Friends of Swinton Queen' group who can help the school in a similar way to how PTA groups run.

Further information will be sent out in September about this but he wanted us to let you know about this in advance so you can consider joining the group and think about any questions you would have on how this will run

Parent Governor Vacancy

School governors and trustees make a valuable contribution to children’s education, opportunities and futures and there is a great opportunity for someone to join our local governing body as a parent governor.

Being a school governor is a challenging but hugely rewarding role. It will give you the chance to make a real difference to young people, give something back to your local community and use and develop your skills in a board-level environment.

If you are interested in becoming a parent governor and would like to know more about what this role involves please can you email enquiries@sqp.wwpat.org and Mr Goddard will arrange a time to talk to you about this.

School Uniform

It's been a while since I've messaged about school uniform, but i wanted to say thank you - over the last few weeks the number of children wearing the correct school uniform has significantly increased.

Please can we ask that you send your child to school with a suitable hat and a water bottle and that sun tan cream is applied at home prior to coming into school.

The new uniforms are already being seen in school and these look great.
