At Swinton Queen Primary School we recognise, promote and teach Modern British Values through our curriculum and enrichment activities which are interwoven into our everyday timetables. All staff strive to ensure that our pupils leave school prepared for life in modern Britain. Pupils are encouraged to regard people of all faiths, races and cultures with respect and tolerance and understand that while different people may hold different views about what is ‘right’ and ‘wrong’, all people living in England are subject to its law. We also talk to our children about people's appearances and personalities and that the world would be a very dull place if everyone was the same.
As part of the work we do around this we ask all children to be sensitive towards each other and not say anything that may offend or upset others in school - either deliberately or what they may think is in more of a joking way. Mr Goddard and Mrs Cunningham have spoke to all classes about this today and answered any questions that were raised by children.
We will continue to do this in school but would ask that over the weekend you could reinforce this message with your child / children and how their words and actions might make others feel even if done in jest.
As a school we will not tolerate any negative behaviour that upsets or harms any child in school.
