NEW* Parents’ Prayer Group
Wednesday 1st May, in the library, straight after drop-off in the morning.
Please join us for a short time of prayer and reflection for our school community. All welcome - mums, dads, carers, babies and preschoolers. Whether you pray all the time or you have never prayed before, please come along.
For more info please speak to Kylie (Mum of James Y3 and Kate Y2: you will spot her in the playground with the twins).
Since starting TTRS, the children’s speed and accuracy in recalling their times tables has drastically improved and, as previously mentioned, times tables are the foundations for all areas of maths. Please remember that times tables are a weekly homework requirement and unfortunately, it is the same children who are continually not completing this aspect of their homework. I hope that, as we move into the summer term, and knowing that we have dropped from 2nd to 6th on the leaderboard, the children will start to take more responsibility for completing each times table game to the best of their ability in a bid to get Isham to the top spot!!
A huge well done to our sporting teams who have had a busy term. Our Years 5 and 6 Athletics team (who qualified at the level 2 competition back in January) came 8th in the County Finals. Two Year 2 teams took part in the Pacesetter Athletics Competition where they came 3rd and 4th out of 12 teams. Finally, our Years 3 and 4 made us incredibly proud when they represented Isham at the Northampton Premier Sport Showdown and came 3rd overall.
We are now at the start of our Gala Day preparations and the children have been showing off their dance moves during their P.E. lessons.
Years 3 and 4 have also been practising their hockey skills in preparation for in-school try-outs for the Quicksticks competition next term. Key Stage 2 Cross Country qualifiers will be held on the Glebe field with the fastest two boys and girls in each year going through to the Pacesetter Cross Country. Sadly, the Netball League is not running this year but Northamptonshire Sport are holding a one-off sudden death tournament; schools are only allowed to enter one team consisting of 4 girls and 3 boys so all Years 5 and 6 will take part in Netball try-outs next term.
As always, I am hugely impressed by the perseverance our children demonstrate during P.E. lessons and their determination to improve their skills. I am proud of how our children represented the school during recent events and the excellent sportsmanship that they displayed – well done!
