A Note From Dr. Obado

This newsletter is to provide all students, parents, and community members an update on what band is going to look like this summer and into the season. It has been quite a challenging month creating, editing, and changing plans on a regular basis. Now that Allen ISD has announced their back-to-school plan, we can announce what our season will look like.

The Allen Eagle Escadrille is an organization that represents the Allen Independent School District at local, state, and national levels. We believe in inclusion and community with a relentless pursuit of excellence in all we do. That said, this Escadrille season will look very different. Decisions were made to keep the integrity of inclusion, community and excellence within the framework of a safe, accommodating, and nurturing experience for everyone. We have made changes to our rehearsal schedules and logistical procedures to create safe learning environments. In addition we reduced our fees to make participating in band this year a little easier.

Please scroll through the pages below for our summer schedule, registration information, safety precautions, At-Home information, and other changes important to this season. I truly hope that these temporary changes and safety protocols can keep us connected as the Escadrille is our community's most unique and treasured organizations. Important Summer Band Information

Students must submit - (1) NEW STUDENTS: UIL Pre-Participation Form and (2) ALL STUDENTS: Allen ISD Health Screening Form. Print, complete, and bring to your first day of summer rehearsal.

Items for Summer Band

All band and guard students will need face coverings on hand at rehearsals as well as a large jug for water. Brass & woodwind students will need Flip folders and lyres for your music (as we will not use music stands for summer band) as well as face coverings for rehearsals. Percussion will use music stands this summer.

FLIP FOLDERS/LYRES: You can call the Allen Music & Arts Store to purchase Flip Folders and Lyres prior to July 27. Flip folders are all the same. Lyres are specific to your instrument. Student leaders will call freshman about what brand/specific lyres work for them. Otherwise, the salesmen at Music & Arts can assist with the proper purchase. Allen location: (214) 383-1737.

The Allen Band Booster Association (ABBA) offers Dr. Obado approved items such as face coverings, bags, jugkoozies (water bottle holder), band jacket and more for the marching season. Items purchased for band camp, Colorguard camp and percussion camps will be available for pick-up the Saturday before assigned camp in front of the PAC from 10-11 am. Colorguard & Percussion July 18 & Band July 25.

If you have already purchased a Field Jacket and/or Cinch Sack from the Allen Band Booster Association, you will not need to purchase them at registration. Note that if you already own a Blue Sinch Sack, you will need to purchase the approved Red Drawstring Bag. If you ordered a Blue Cinch Sack and have not received it, you will get the approved Red Drawstring Bag in its place.

Curbside Registration: August 1

We will hold a required curbisde registration on Saturday, August 1st. The purpose of Registration is to:

  • Turn in required paperwork
  • Pay required band fees
  • Pick up required uniform items
  • Pick-Up Escadrille Spirit-Wear and gear ordered online from the Allen Band Boosters from their online shop.

After our July 21st virtual parent/student meeting, we will have everybody sign up (on Sign-Up Genius) for a time to come to a curbside registration. We will also open up SchoolPay if you choose to pay for required band fees online. Please note that we are making this a tax-free day for cash and check purchases on August 1st only. Paying online will not only have convenience fees, but you will be unable to take advantage of the tax-free option. You can save money coming to registration with cash or check.
