WHO ARE NIC AND LUCAS ??
Two mates, from primary school to now! Nic Marchesi and Lucas Patchett built a free mobile laundry in their old van to help the homeless. Orange Sky Laundry began in September 2014 and since then, the innovation has spread through Brisbane, Canberra, Gold Coast, Melbourne, Sydney, Sunshine Coast, Perth, Adelaide, SE Melbourne, Wollongong and Hobart. Run by over 270 volunteers, the custom fitted vans with two commercial washing machines and two dryers, service at over 36 locations and wash over 350 loads of washing each week. A facilitator for bringing people of all status's of life together, Orange Sky facilitates over 1 300 hours of positive and genuine conversations each week. In February 2015, they took their mobile laundry to North Queensland to wash clothes in cyclone effected communities. Nic and Lucas have found a way to treat others the way they want to be treated by restoring respect, raising health standards and reducing the strain on resources. They now plan to expand services Australia-wide with the aim of positively connecting the community and improving the lives of others.
Who are the prophets in our world ??
Nic and Luke are like prophets as they are helping out people less fortunate than them, giving up their time and some money to make use and drive these vans around Australia to help make the homeless of Canberra happier and cleaner. Nic Lucas and all volunteers of the van together provide over 1 300 hours of positive and genuine conversation per week between them and the volunteers of the orange sky laundry.
AMOS
AMOS, was an advocate for social justice and helping out other less fortunate than himself. The inventors behind orange sky laundry are similar to Amos as they are helping others less fortunate than themselves and by providing social justice they were providing opportunities for showering and washing and privileges to be able to have a private shower with soap and dry off with a provided towel, also by providing washing machines and dries to clean clothes. This also improved their comfort as wearing clean dry clothes is much more comfortable than wearing wet, smelly, dirty and cold clothing.
