Day of the Dead

Led by the Latinx and Hispanic Employee Resource Group, Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts in Partnership with Mano a Mano: Mexican Culture Without Borders invites you to celebrate Día de Muertos with an ofrenda at Hearst Plaza on the Northside of Lincoln Center Theater.

Dia de Muertos | Day of the Dead is a two-day tradition originating in Mexico, that honors loved ones who have passed. Ofrendas, or altars, serve as the centerpiece of the tradition, decorated with bright marigolds, photos of the departed, and elements that honor the dead, including drink and food.

On November 1st and 2nd between 4 - 6 pm, we invite staff and family members to attend an opening indigenous ceremony, engage with the ofrenda, and learn about the customs and traditions of this holiday.

November 1 and 2, 2021 • 4 - 6 pm • Hearst Plaza on the Northside of Lincoln Center

If you are interested in attending, please RSVP to peopleevents@lincolncenter.org

Day of the Dead

Celebrate our beloved Day of the Dead tradition in New York City

Day of the Dead (Día de Muertos) is a time to honor and revere our deceased family members and ancestors. This tradition is rooted in the native Mexican belief that life on earth is a preparation for the next world and of the importance of maintaining a strong relationship with the dead.

Join us and dedicate our ofrenda (altar) to your departed loved-ones by placing copies of photographs, letters, and notes.

Live Music • Mexican Food • Mexican Folk Art Market

The event is rain or shine. We may cancel some activities or the event if there are strong wind gusts, heavy rain, or snow.

Mano a Mano's Day of the Dead is supported, in part, by public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council; public funds from the New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA) with the support of Governor Kathy Hochul and the New York State Legislature. Additional support was provided by St. Mark's Church in-the-Bowery.
