Mrs. Hines' kindergarteners were very busy this week! On Thursday, Colorado's Environmental Ed Day was held at Saulsbury Recreational Center. Students from kindergarten through fifth grade participated in a variety of activities...

... and then on Friday, Mrs. Hines Kindergarten class went to the Kiddie Barnyard at the Ag Learning Center. The FFA students from the high school help put on this event for the community each Spring. Students were able to see and touch a variety of animals and fish!

Ms. Schumaker's kindergarten class loves Kiddie Barnyard!

Colorado's 1st Grade Cub Scouts, the Tigers, planted tulips in the fall at Colorado School. They are blooming now!

Students from Mrs. Calderon, Ms. Meyers, Mrs. Sneath, Ms. Huber, and Mrs. Hawkins presented their country reports at our 2nd Annual Country Culture Fair. Students researched how to say "Hi" and how to count 1-10 in different languages that their chosen country represents. Ms. Betty Collins also came and shared some stories.

Franklin kindergarten students in Miss Clemens' class visited Kiddy Barnyard today!

Parents enjoyed coming to Mrs. Henderson's 2nd grade classroom to experience a wax museum about famous Americans.

Second Graders in Mrs. Morton's class from Grant School took a trip to the Devonian Fossil Gorge! They got to enjoy the beautiful weather, learn of the history of the Coralville Dam and best of all, search for fossils!

First graders in Mrs. Zitzow's class at Jefferson went to the QC Botanical Center to hear about plants and the Mississippi River. They listened to speakers and did hands on activities. Students had a great time and learned a lot!

Madison students performed a spring musical, "Character Matters." The musical taught Madison students and their parents about good character and positive leadership. It was performed in the Madison School Gym for students on Tuesday, then again inviting family for a 4:30 presentation.

Preschool students in Mrs. Swailes' class at Madison Elementary have been reading fairytales. Below are pictures of students recreating and role playing Three Billy Goats Gruff.

Mrs. Spratt's kindergarten class delivered May baskets to the McKinley neighbors.

Fitness Record Breakers at McKinley. Below is a picture of all students in grades 1-5 who broke fitness records this year at McKinley. Congratulations!

Mr. Carlson's 3rd graders were given an engineering challenge with time and materials constraints. They had to build a cart with moving wheels.

The math intervention today in Mrs. Steele's 5th grade classroom was playing a game that involved finding the volume of shipping containers....

...and had an educational program with a Corps of Engineers ranger on the Celebration Belle on the Mississippi River.

The West Middle School Library held its Second Annual Poetry Contest in celebration of National Poetry Month. Thank you to all students that participated. Congratulations to Grace S., the winner of this year's contest!

College Decision Day was Friday at MHS. The high school recognized those students who have committed to a college, either 4-year or 2-year, or the military and celebrated their decision with staff, parents, and the community! Overall, 150 of Muscatine High School's 220 seniors who have indicated they will be attending a two-year or four-year college in the fall attended the event! Congratulations students!

Congratulations to Tyler Olson on his 4th place finish at The Drake Relays in the 800 meter run. Tyler was also the MAC conference champion in the 800 meter run.

Anna Bixby was the winner of the CAPE car donated by Krieger's of Muscatine. Thank you Krieger's for your continued support of MHS CAPE and Congratulations Anna!

Mr. Scott Gehret, ALC teacher at MHS, got into the spirit of May 4th (May the 4th Be With You!) by creating his own (yes, he drew this himself!) May 4th tribute to Star Wars and a count down to the last day of school for students!
