Jim Crow laws

Nurses: No person or corporation shall require any white female nurse to nurse in wards or rooms in hospitals, either public or private, in which African American men are placed.

Buses: All passenger stations in this state operated by separate waiting rooms or space and separate ticket windows for the white and colored people.

The Great Depression

What is the Great Depression? The Great Depression is a economy situation that happened in 1929 to 1939. The Great Depression began soon after stock markets crashed which everyone was getting hired or many people didn't have jobs which wiped millions of visitors. Everyone was desperate for a job or to get money. Many people found ways to get money so they can have money to buy there food and supplies. The Great Depression affected the characters in the book Roll of thunder because during that period of time their was rascism and it was harder for native Americans.

Abolishment of slavery

The abolishment of slavery ended in until Dec. 6, 1865, where they stopped being hurt and punished. I feel that the African Americans were happy and weren't worried anymore because all of the cruel rules and harsh punishments were over. Now they can live in peace and work hard for there families. Now theses poor people can be free and do everything else a white people can do. That's what I think theses African Americans would probably feel like. Now, therefore I, Abraham Lincoln, President of the United States, by virtue of the power in me vested as Commander- in-Chief, of the Army and Navy of the United States. . .do order and designate [appoint] the following States as being in rebellion: "

" Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation".

Lynching

Lynching is kill (someone), especially by hanging, for an alleged offense with or without a legal trial. Which started they were most frequent from 1890 to the 1920s, with a peak in 1892. A direct quotation from the book is “there aren’t enough of those same white people who would admit how they feel, or even if they did, would hang a white man for killing a black one. It’s as simple as that.” In the Roll of Thunder many people could be lynched if they didn't follow the rules or even by talking to a white person disrespect fully. (https://youtu.be/h4ZyuULy9zs)
