NOTHING SWEETER OU WON ITS FINAL 10 GAMES, NONE SWEETER THAN THE LAST -- A 35-19 VICTORY OVER AUBURN IN THE SUGAR BOWL -- TO CAP OFF A REMARKABLE 2016 SEASON.

the grand stage

The Superdome sits silent just hours before the 2017 Allstate Sugar Bowl.

Gameday setup -- Sugar Bowl edition -- inside Oklahoma's locker room.

clocking in

Samaje Perine walks across the Sugar Bowl field upon the team's arrival. Soon, he will run across it to history.

pomp & circumstance

SOONER SCHOONER 2.0

When they won't let the real Boomer, Sooner and Schooner on the field, you improvise.

HERE COME THE SOONERS!

For the first time ever, the Superdome turned the lights off for the Sugar Bowl team entrances.

game time!

Auburn struck first, but OU's defense settled in and Baker and the boys went to work.

the hit

Near the end of the first half, Ahmad Thomas put a hit on Auburn RB Kamryn Pettway that would set the tone for the rest of the game.

sooners start to roll

Oklahoma scored 21 unanswered points to open the second half -- including one incredible TD by Joe Mixon -- to turn a close game into a route.

The record

With the outcome all but sealed, the Sooners went on a mission to get Samaje Perine the OU career rushing record, and he did so in classic Perine fashion.

when time stands still

It wasn't the first time the game stopped to recognize a Perine record-performance. The scene looked very similar to when he set the NCAA single-game record with 427 yards vs. Kansas in 2014... minus the rain of course.

As humble as it gets

Never one to seek the spotlight, Perine celebrated by taking a seat on the bench, while coaches and teammates filed over one by one to offer their congratulations.

OU's rushing king

Murray. Griffin. Owens. Peterson. Washington. Sims.

Perine tops them all.

ball game

Auburn scored a meaningless touchdown as the clock hit :00, and Bob Stoops walked away with his fourth straight win against a team from the SEC.

Sugar bowl champs!

For the second time in four years, the Sooners raised that sweet silver cup!

Thank you fans!

Sooner Nation made a difference in the Superdome, and for that we thank you!

"Everybody in the room gets a game ball!"

Including one special one... for OU's new all-time leading rusher.

Oh, how sweet it is!

11-2 overall. 9-0 in the Big 12. 10 straight wins. Sugar Bowl Champions!!!
