Nicole Goza

We are saddened to announce that as of the New Year, Nicole Goza will be leaving CSU Extension to pursue other endeavors.

Nicole began in 2013 as the 4-H Admin Assistant for the Montrose and Ouray 4-H Programs. In 2014, she became a 4-H Associate and STEM Program Agent. She has helped promote STEM days, provided in-school trainings in embryology, coordinated Cloverbud camps, and served to promote 4-H and STEM education in and around our county.

We hope you will wish her well as she pursues a new direction! Thank You Nicole for all you've done for our programming here at CSU Extension!

Feb 21st ~ 4-H Record Book Training, 6pm @MCF's

2019 Montrose 4-H & FFA Market Beef Weigh-In Info!

Montrose 4-H/FFA Members are going to need to have the following documents at the 2019 Beef Weigh-In on Feb 2nd (10-11am):

  • Original Brand Inspection/s on all animals
  • COPY/s of Original Brand Inspection/s on all animals
  • Bred & Fed/Homegrown Eligibility form for both purchased B&F and/or Home-Raised B&F animals (Printable forms can be found HERE!)
  • $2/Animal for your ear tag (Cash/Check only)

Additionally, MINI MARKET ANIMALS must be declared at the weigh-in. Animals declared MINI must meet the following requirements AT FAIR:

  • Hip Height At or Below 47 Inches (Market)
  • Weight Between 500lbs - 1,000lbs

MINI's must meet the above requirements at Fair. If they do not, MINI's will show in the Prospect Class and not be eligible for the Livestock Auction.

4-H Record Book Training ~ February

2019 Leadership Development Conference

4-H Leadership Development Conference (LDC) is open to 4-H Members ages 14-19 (Jan 1st, 2019).

The conference is held in Denver Jan 26th - 28th at the Renaissance Hotel. Members will interact with other Colorado 4-H'ers from around the state as they participate in workshops, collect hygiene supplies for the Denver Rescue Mission, and visit with our State Politicians at the Capitol on Colorado 4-H Day!

Trip requires 5 members attending and at least 1 Adult Chaperone Volunteer. Cost is $250/Member/Chaperone. Trip funding is available (Please contact us for options!).

Registration is open December 7th - January 9th on 4honline.com.

Colorado Youth Fest 2019

Colorado Youth Fest is open to 4-H Members ages 11-13 (Jan 1st, 2019).

Youth Fest is held at the Ponderosa Camp in Colorado Springs, Feb 8th - 10th. Members will interact with other Colorado 4-H'ers from around the state as they participate in fun team activities, games, and interactive workshops. Sledding is available pending snow!

Trip requires 5 members attending and at least 1 Adult Chaperone Volunteer. Cost is $150/Member/Chaperone. Trip funding is available (Please contact us for options!).

Registration is open January 2nd - 25th on 4honline.com. Registration usually closes EARLY due to 195 attendee limit is reached!!! So don't wait to register!

Washington Focus ~ Summer 2019

Citizen Washington Focus takes senior aged (15-19) 4-H Members to our nation's capital - Washington D.C.!

Delegates will fly to D.C. in Summer of 2019. While there, they participate with the National 4-H officer team in leadership workshops, volunteer in a large group community service day-project, interact with some of our nations upper most political leaders at the capital, and tour the sights of the National Mall.

Delegates are chosen by their respective 4-H Councils every February. Montrose selects 2 delegates and Ouray selects 1 delegate. Flight and trip registrations are paid for by the 4-H Council.

Interested 4-H members must apply through 4honline.com under the event - Citizen Washington Focus. Applications will begin at the end of December with a deadline of FEBRUARY 4th, 2019 for completed applications to be turned in online. Delegates will be chosen at the February 4-H Council meetings.

Sewing Workshops 2019

4-H Clothing Construction Workshops return in 2019!

All workshops are on Saturdays from 9am-NOON at the Montrose County Fairgrounds. Workshops are open to 4-H Clothing Construction Members no matter age or experience. Please bring your own machines, sewing tools, materials, and patterns. The first few workshops will focus on fun community service projects! The dates are listed below:

  • January 12 ~ First One! Come check it out even if you aren't signed up in Sewing!

  • March 9
  • April 13
  • May 18
  • June 15

NEW this YEAR! Are you interested in Crocheting? We have the wonderful opportunity to have a Crotchet 4-H Leader who will be doing workshops (Same time as Sewing) with 4-H Members who want to learn or improve on their skills. Contact us for more info!!!!
