On Senior night, the lady Vikings hosted the lady Blue Devils of Lugoff Elgin. Senior captain Millie Spivey and junior Maddie Webster, both taking low medalist honors in the match, led the lady Viking's team to victory. Spring Valley's team score of 188 bettering Lugoff Elgin's team score of 244. Other lady Vikings contributing to overall team score were: freshman Elaine Craig and junior Lauren Williams.

The lady Vikings golf team travelled to Newberry country club to play in their first 18 hole event of the season. The Smith Memorial (Pink Out) tournament is an annual event that the team highly anticipates participating in every year. The field consisted of around 85 players from about 16 teams from around the state.

The lady Vikings playing along side Boiling Springs and Lugoff Elgin, shot a team score of 402 to finish 11th overall. Junior Maddie Webster was low medalist for Spring Valley and finished T29 out of 85 players. Other contributors for the lady Vikings were: senior Millie Spivey, senior Tayelor Morgan and freshman Elaine Craig.

The lady Vikings will play in the region tournament next Monday October 12th at the Chester golf club.

The Viking Swimmers traveled to Rock HIll this past Saturday for the Region 5 4A Championships. Both Girls and Boys teams won their region! The Vikings had some amazing swims, close to 100% season best times, and many state cuts received for this coming weekend in Charleston.

Top place finishes for girls were: 1st Place Girls 200 Medley (Elizabeth Johnson, Ellis Murray, Ann Ryan Alexander and Madisson-Rhea Jones), Simron Tippabhatla (3rd 200 IM, 2nd 100 Free), Elizabeth Johnson (1st 50 Free, 1st 100 Free), Ann Ryan Alexander (1st 100 Fly, 1st 500 Free), 200 Free Relay (1st Place- Madisson-Rhea Jones, Ann Alexander, Ellis Murray and Elizabeth Johnson), Ellis Murray (100 Back- 1st, 100 Breastroke- 3rd) and the 400 Free Relay (2nd- Ella King, Juliana Stacy, Marta Tremolada, and Simron Tippabhatla).

Boys top finishers were: Boys Medley Relay (Ethan Ho, Joseph Frye, Rhett Moore, and William Johnson), Ethan Ho (1st 200 Free, 1st 100 Back), Pedro Robertson (3rd 200 Free, 3rd 100 Fly), Joseph Frye (1st 200 IM, 1st 100 Breastroke), Rhett Moore (1st 100 Fly, 1st 500 Free), William Johnson (1st 50 Free, 2nd 100 Free), Asa Arnold (3rd 100 Free), Patrick Quirk (3rd 100 Free, 3rd 100 Back), Case Alexander (3rd 500 Free), Boys 200 Free Relay (A Relay 1st - Asa Arnold, Rhett Moore, Ethan Ho, William Alexander, B Relay 3rd- Samvit Urs, Daniel Moon, Isaiah Grant and Patrick Quirk), Connor Swayne (3rd 100 Breastroke), and Boys 400 Free Relay (A Relay 1st- Asa Arnold, Patrick Quirk, Pedro Robertson, and Joseph Frye, B Relay 3rd- Connor Swayne, Andrew May, Kaden Moracco, and Case Alexander).

The Girls Cross Country team traveled to Northwestern HS yesterday to face region opponent Northwestern along with non-region Clover, York Prep and Gaffney HS. With a huge win, the Lady Vikings were able to pull out the win with a final score of 31-71. All of the girls ran hard and the following girls were the top contributors to improving our record to 3-0 against region opponents: Emily Smoak (4th place), Brantley Aycock (5th place), Ava Phelps (6th place), Molly Westfall (7th place) and Gabi Dissinger (9th place). Congratulations Lady Vikings!

This weekend the Lady Vikings placed 5th overall at the Run Hard Invitational at Heathwood Hall. The top 5 finishers for the Vikings were Caitlin Aycock, Emily Smoak, Molly Westfall, Madison McEachern and Ava Phelps. Others on the team that finished strong in the meet as well include Angel Huang, Gabi Dissinger, Brantley Aycock and Hannah Cook.

We face region opponent Blythewood on Wednesday October 14th at Blythewood HS.

On Wednesday the Vikings traveled to Northwestern for a 5 team meet. The Vikings finished runner up to Northwestern by a score of 23-42. Individually for the Vikings Joey Massaro finished 5th in 17:49, Jack Stacy was 6th in 17:54, Fernando Castro was 8th in 18:07, Tyler Shuler was 9th in 18:21, and Andrew Polson was 14th in 18:59.

On Saturday the Vikings competed against some of the best cross country teams in the state at the Run Hard Invitational. The Vikings finished 7th in the meet. Leading the way was Fernando Castro in 12th place with a time of 16:55. Jack Stacy was 21st in 17:27, Joey Massaro was 24th in 17:35, and Tyler Shuler was 30th in 17:42.
