Bruce Springsteen was born on September 23, 1949 in Long Branch, New Jersey. He is a popular singer- songwriter who frequently records and tours with the E Street Band. Bruce started playing guitar and singing when he was seven because his idol Elvis Presley did. His greatest albums "Born to Run" & "Born in the U.S.A" both showcase the struggles of capturing the American dream.

"Born to Run" by Bruce Springsteen

In the day we sweat it out on the streets of a runaway American dream

Everyday, we try our best to achieve the American dream

At night we ride through the mansions of glory in suicide machines

At night time, we drive through our dream in our cars

Sprung from cages out on highway nine,

Cars are everywhere out on the highway

Chrome wheeled, fuel injected, and steppin' out over the line

It has chrome wheels, with fuel inside the tank, and is ready to go anywhere

H-Oh, Baby this town rips the bones from your back

This town will destroy you

It's a death trap, it's a suicide rap

This town is a death trap that is going to suck you in

We gotta get out while we're young

We have to get out while we can

`Cause tramps like us, baby we were born to run

Because people like us were born to run away

Yes, girl we were

Yes, we are

Wendy let me in I wanna be your friend

Wendy, let me see the real you and I want to be your friend

I want to guard your dreams and visions

I want to protect you from what may hurt you

Together we could break this trap

Together we could get out

We'll run till we drop, baby we'll never go back

We will run from this place until we die and we will never go back

H-Oh, Will you walk with me out on the wire

Will you go with me and take a risk

`Cause baby I'm just a scared and lonely rider

Because I am scared and lonely

But I gotta know how it feels

But I need to know how love feels

I want to know if love is wild

I want to know if love is like what they say it is

Babe I want to know if love is real

I want to know if love is a real thing

Oh, can you show me

Will you show me love is real

Beyond the Palace hemi-powered drones scream down the boulevard

Beyond the mansions, cars zoom down the streets

Girls comb their hair in rearview mirrors

Girls get ready in the mirrors

And the boys try to look so hard

And the boys try to hard to look good

The amusement park rises bold and stark

From here you can see the amusement park rising up

Kids are huddled on the beach in a mist

You can see kids hiding from the dream

I wanna die with you Wendy on the street tonight

Tonight, I want to be with you Wendy right here

In an everlasting kiss

And kiss you

One, two, three, four

One, two, three, four

The highway's jammed with broken heroes on a last chance power drive

The highway is full of people trying to escape their problems but they are out of luck

Everybody's out on the run tonight

Everyone is trying to run away right now

But there's no place left to hide

But there is nowhere left to hide from the problems

Together Wendy we can live with the sadness

Together, Wendy we can be sad

I'll love you with all the madness in my soul

I will love you with everything I have

H-Oh, Someday girl I don't know when

Someday we will leave here

We're gonna get to that place

We are going to escape the blackness

Where we really wanna go

We can go anywhere but here

And we'll walk in the sun

We will bask in the sun and happiness

But till then tramps like us

We are meant to be something greater and more

Baby we were born to run

We were meant to run away

Oh honey, tramps like us

People like us need to run

Baby we were born to run

We were meant to run away

Come on with me, tramps like us

Come with me and run away

Baby we were born to run

We were meant to run away

"Born to Run" by Bruce Springsteen is a love letter to his crush Wendy. He was truly in love with her and his song is put together very poetically. All of his lines in the song flow, whether or not there is a rhyme following it. Bruce Springsteen is begging for freedom that he wants with his love.
