LaAmistad at Peachtree April 20, 2017

Dear Friends,

Spring has sprung, testing is over and it has been a sensational week. Can you believe that we have only 12 days of programming left?

Our last day of LaAmistad At Peachtree will be May 11th. We invite you to join us for food and student award recognitions.

This week the children have completed program surveys, reading fluency and math assessments for the year.

The purpose of the student survey is to provide us classroom and program feedback. We will share and use this feedback to make positive changes to our program.

It's been an amazing journey of love, friendship and new beginnings.

You all are simply the best!

Disney S.T.E.A.M Memories

This week our students participated in a great STEAM event with some of the visiting Disney on Ice Characters.

A very special Thank-You to Mr. Andrew, Mr. Desmond and Ms. Ellen for accompanying the students.

We had a "STEM-Tas-TIC Thursday. A very special Thank you to

Bank Of America for helping to make our STEAM day a great success.

The Learning Continues

Educational Games

We are so blessed to have an abundance of educational games and resources to enrich the learning experiences.

Hats off to our First grade team for fully utilizing their closet of educational games to engage and enhance the learning experience.

Math Flash Cards

As the year comes to a close we'd like to encourage and remind you to keep the learning going by reinforcing and sharpening student math skills by using your classroom flashcards.

Kuddos to fourth grade for the excellent work they've done to develop Math Super-Star Students!

Read! Read! Read!

We have finished our reading fluency assessments and ALL of our students need to read for fluency and comprehension.

Continue to practice reading stamina for 15 minutes or longer.

Ms. Ellen and Ms. Mary have enjoyed doing a chapter book read aloud every Thursday. The children look forward to the next adventure each week.

Study Skill

Break Big Assignments into Smaller Parts

How to incorporate the study skill: You should use good time management by not procrastinating on large projects. You should work on small parts of a large assignment every night until it is finished

Understanding is thinking clearly. It is using your mind so that you can see the truth about things. It is paying careful attention and thinking about things in order to see their meaning.

It is also having empathy and showing compassion. Understanding gives us the power to think and learn and also to care.

"I have an understanding mind. I concentrate and pay attention so that I can think clearly. I have an understanding heart. I have empathy for other people's feelings."

In Your Honor...

We Believe In You

We would like to personally thank each of you for Believing in LaAmistad, for believing that you are making a difference in the lives of our children.

Thank you for believing and knowing you are helping to shape and change the lives of our students and their families.

We know and believe that we could not have gotten through this year without YOU! Have a fabulous weekend
