Biography

Greg Owens was born May 14, 1993. He began his musical career as a drummer by the age of 2. Throughout his life, Greg has played at many churches, schools and different bands/ensembles. Greg is versatile in many genres such as gospel, jazz, funk, hip-hop, R&B and rock. He’s played drums on studio albums including Matthew Kiernan & G-Bop “First Fruits”, Sheri Wise-Chaffin “You Make Me Smile” and Deric Anderson’s “Shifting”. Some his accomplishments as a musician includes opening up for Boys II Men, PJ Morton, AverySunshine, Kid Capri and being nominated for a Grammy Award for his work on the children's album, "All One Tribe". Owens is the founder and drummer of Harmonic Soul Band and currently is the drummer for Mojoflo. He is currently endorsed by Domain Cymbals.

Owens is an accomplished music producer, recording artist, song writer and engineer. He has recorded and produced for many artists in Columbus, OH and Midwest region since the age of 13. In 2011, he released his first music video “Popular” which has garnered over 25,000 YouTube views. Owens has been featured on the both Columbus’ urban radio stations 106.7 The Beat and Power 107.5 as well as Power 92.3 in Chicago IL. He's since released countless singles and projects including the 2017 album, “Eclectic Soul” which was received with critical acclaim for its eclectic sound and vulnerable subject matter. He's currently working his new album "The GLO Album" which is set for 2025.

As an actor, Greg has taken on several leading roles in some of America's greatest stage plays. His acting career began in 2009 as a sophomore in high school in which he played Walter Lee Younger in Lorraine Hansberry's 'A Raisin in a Sun'. In 2018, he starred as Youngblood in August Wilson's 'Jitney' under the direction of PAST Productions (Columbus, OH).

Greg Owens is a graduate of Northland High School and has received some post secondary education at Columbia College Chicago. Owens has been recognized as apart of ‘Who’s Who in Black Columbus’ several times, most recently as an "Emerging Leader".
