Weekly Reflections December 16, 2016

Hello APH Families,

We invite you to join us tonight, Friday December 16th, and celebrate the holiday season with The Academy at Penguin Hall. The APH musical groups performing are Choral Ensemble, A Cappella Group, Rock Band and Classical Ensemble. The sounds of the season will echo harmoniously throughout the majestic A.J. Gordon Memorial Chapel at Gordon College on Friday, December 16th at 7pm. Doors will open at 6:30pm. Admission is FREE.

Congratulations to The Academy’s cast and crew of “Shakespeare’s Women.” The performance was a huge success. Both nights were sold out! The girls worked incredibly hard and it certainly paid off. A special thank you to Mr. Crowley for all his efforts.

Secret Santa Book Swap:

As we create a reading legacy here at APH we were thrilled by our first annual Secret Santa Book Swap which took place on Wednesday. Students eagerly unwrapped their books by the Christmas tree. The girls took the time to learn what their secret friend would like and got books accordingly. We hope they enjoy them over the Christmas break. Happy reading ladies!

Midterms:

Today was the first day of midterm exams.

Busses will remain on schedule during the exam week. If students prefer to leave after the completion of an exam, they must arrange their own transportation.

No student will be allowed to enter a room once an exam has begun. There are no exceptions.

Meditation & Mindfulness During Midterms

During midterm exams students will be provided with the space and time to meditate with art teacher Ms. Riley.

Midterm exams can be stressful for many students, meditation is proven to not only relieve stress but provide relaxation and rejuvenate the mind. Studies show meditating before tests can even improve scores! Meditations will happen every day of midterm exams at 8:15-8:35 am and 12:15-12:35 pm students can come to any meditation, no need to sign up, just feel free to drop in the back art room a few minutes before the meditation starts! So any time the stress of a test starts to creep in... there is a place to go and find peace and relaxation!

Girls are encouraged to bring books or sketch pads to exams; we will not allow use of electronic devices even if a student has finished. They can be disruptive to others.
