Garnet Sports Update Jan. 23, 2017

Men's Basketball bounced back with double-digit wins over Haverford College and Dickinson College this week. The Garnet beat the Fords 89-68 at home on Wednesday. Andrew Kaufmann (right) pulled down 17 rebounds while the entire opposing team only had 21 rebounds for the game. Cam Wiley scored a career-high 26 points in the win while shooting 73.3 percent.

Against Dickinson, the Garnet pulled away with a strong second half. Freshman Nate Shafer made his first start and scored a career-high 17 points to lead all scorers in the 66-53 win.

Men's Swimming took first in every event at Cabrini University on Saturday, earning a resounding 218-35 win. Swarthmore's swimmers swam some events that they typically do not do during the season but performed well in them.

Andrew Steele (right) dashed to first in both the 50-yard backstroke and the 50-yard butterfly.

Women's Basketball sophomore Audra Woodside (left) had a strong second half against the Haverford College Fords. She had a run of six straight points and hit a shot that beat the final buzzer, finishing the game with 11 points on 5-of-7 shooting.

At Dickinson College on Saturday, Hayley Raymond scored a team-high 12 points while shooting 5-for-10 from the floor.

The Garnet fell against Haverford and Dickinson, two teams tied for first in the Centennial Conference, but will look to get back on track with three games this week.

Women's Swimming cruised to victory at Cabrini University and improved to 6-1 on the year in dual meets. Sarah Solomon (left) as well as Clare Cushing and Amelia Tomei won two individual events.

The Garnet took the event 196-66 in the final non-conference meet of the season.
