Standing Committee: Are permanent groups to oversee bills that deal with certain kinds of issues.
Subcommittees: Permanent groups to oversee bills that dealt with certain kinds of issues.
Select Committee: Study one specific issue and report their findings to the Senate or House of Representatives
Joint Committees: Are either temporary or permanent and have members from both political parties
Conference Committee: Is a temporary committee set up when the House and Senate have passed different versions of the same bill
Financial Services: Oversees the entire financial services industry, including the securities, insurance, banking, and housing industries. Majority Party: 34 members Minority Party: 26 members. The Geographical Area Of Members: There is no one from Iowa in the Financial Services Committee.
The Rules Committee: Rather than being responsible for a specific area of policy, as most other committees are, it is in charge of determining under what rule other bills will come to the floor. Majority Party: 8 members Minority Party: 4 members. The Geographical Area Of Members: Has a lot of representatives from Texas and Georgia.
Foreign Affairs Committee: Has jurisdiction over bills and investigations related to the foreign affairs of the United States. Majority Party: 26 members Minority Party: 19 members. The Geographical Areas of Members: Mainly made up of Florida, Texas, California
