VOLLEYBALL

THE MAROONS OPEN THE 2017 SEASON ON THE ROAD AT THE SAINT MARY'S CLASSIC, WHERE UCHICAGO WILL PLAY FOUR MATCHES SEPT. 1-2 IN WINONA, MINN.

THIS WEEK'S SCHEDULE

Sarah Muizenga returns for her junior season after earning AVCA HM All-Region honors in 2016 as a right-side hitter.

Fourth-Year Head Coach Sharon Dingman & her staff were named the UAA Volleyball Staff of the Year in 2016 after the Maroons swept UAA Round Robin play for the first time in program history.

CROSS COUNTRY

The Maroons Men's & Women's Squads kick off the 2017 season Friday, Sept. 1, at the University of St. Francis (Ill.) Twilight 5K in Channahon, Ill.

Senior Cassidy McPherson returns for the Maroon women in 2017.

WOMEN'S SOCCER

The #3-ranked UChicago Women's Soccer team opens the 2017 campaign in California, where the Maroons will take on Claremont-Mudd-Scripps & Pomona-Pitzer in a three-day span.

Third-Team All-American midfielder Mia Calamari returns for her senior campaign for the Maroons in 2017.

FOOTBALL

UChicago Football opens the 2017 season with high expectations as the Maroons kick off play in a brand-new conference, the Midwest Conference. UChicago hosts Case Western Reserve in a nonleague tilt Sept 2 at Stagg Field to get the action started.

SATURDAY, SEPT. 2: Case Western Reserve at UChicago, 12pm, Stagg Field

Senior running back Chandler Carroll is back after averaging 174.2 all-purpose yards per contest -- the 11th-best mark in NCAA Division III -- in 2016.
"We know the Midwest Conference is a highly-competitive league and will present some tremendous challenges, but we are looking forward to the journey. "We have a tremendous amount of work to put in this preseason and we just want to improve with every opportunity we have. MEN'S SOCCER

After reaching the NCAA Sweet Sixteen for the second-time in program history in 2016, the Maroons are primed for another big season in 2017. #9 UChicago opens its quest for a national title Friday, Sept. 1, at home against Whitworth.

  • MON., SEPT. 4: Knox at UChicago, 4pm CT
Junior Max Lopez returns after earning First-Team All-American honors in 2016, scoring 16 goals and adding 12 assists for a school-record 38 points.
"We have a group of four seniors who have played key roles in big games, and raised the standard for the program every year. They will bring urgency to everything we do because they are determined for this year to be their best." - HEAD COACH MIKE BABST
